If you are researching Duluth motels for luxurious accommodations, you will definitely want to check out Fitger’s Inn. Located downtown with views of Lake Superior, this AAA Four Diamond hotel has easy access to fine dining, shopping, night clubs, and lake walking. The hotel is a fully renovated 1885 historic building, once the Fitger Brewery.

This luxurious Duluth motel offers a full line of guest services. Complimentary services include parking with 24-hour valet service, shuttle service, wired and wireless Internet service, continental breakfast, newspaper, and 24-hour fitness center. Handicap rooms are available, as well as rooms that will accommodate pets. Discounts for salon and spa services are offered.

Promotions packages are often available. They include winter midweek specials, valid from mid October through March. Also two night specials can give a savings of $48 for a standard room up to $198 for a double whirlpool lake view suite. When you book, ask for the two night special if you are staying more than one night.

After prohibition was repealed, they again produced quality beer until 1972.

Originally the building, which now houses the Suites Hotel, was built in 1889. The building served as the headquarters for ships arriving with goods from the east coast. Ships could come right up to the building to unload cargo. The unloaded cargo was moved inside the building where it was inventoried and loaded onto rail cars. The rail cars then left the building to distribute goods all over the country that did not have access to shipping.

The Inn on Lake Superior

Another motel in Duluth to check out is The Inn on Lake Superior. It is located on the shore of Lake Superior in the Canal Park area. The Inn is just steps away from restaurants and shopping. Miles of boardwalk along the lake provides walking pleasure.
Guest rooms include everything you would expect in a luxury hotel. Amenities include private lakeside balconies, whirlpool suites, indoor and outdoor pools, European sauna, and nightly story time for your kids, campfire by the lake with free s’mores.
